Bold statement… but I mean it.

That is unless you are aged between 5 and 12?

In which case hit me up and we’ll book you a lesson.

You see I know who I want to teach and I’m very selective with my students.

I mainly narrow it down by age but there are actually other characteristics as well which I won’t go into here.

When I mention this to other guitar teachers they think I’m fucking crazy!!

All they see are all the potential students that I’m turning down and bags of money floating away.

But that suits me fine because while they are fighting over anybody with a wallet and a pulse.

I’m the perfect guitar teacher for my audience.

And while they are all the same and have to offer cheaper and cheaper lessons to stand out.

I offer a service that is ideally suited to kids.

My message, branding, offers etc. are exactly on point.

I’m everywhere my audience are and only there.

I’m because of this I can charge top dollar!

I can work less hours, have less customers to deal with and make more money.

Which type of business would you like?

I had a conversation with a guitar teacher a while ago about this a while and he response was…

“Yes, I know all this but I want to teach kids and adults”

Now, I get this. I know exactly where he was coming from but…

An adult who wants to play guitar later in life has a completely different motivation to do it then a parent who wants their kid to learn an instrument.

So what is the result of trying to appeal to both…

By trying to please everyone you don’t really please anyone.

This is why successful companies spend millions on market research.

Because the more you know your audience the better you can help them.

Just throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks will waste your time and money.

Targeting the right shit at the right people gets results, so to speak.

If you are interested in how to find your perfect student and how to connect with them to make sales…

PS – Tomorrow I’ll tell you about moving to London and how I got 40 students in 2 months.

All without knowing a single person when I moved there.
